    About The Species

What alien species are you applying for?
    Vox!

Why do you want to play as the alien species?
The Skrell and GAS and others are cool and all, but I like the antics Vox can get up to better. Being part of a small team appeals to my enjoyment of tight knit groups. Then being antagonistic towards Torch's away teams seems like real fun and a good way to make fun stories happen.

What are some example names for the alien species?

Tiktkaayirachki - The Vicious Quill of the Way-Ward Interceptor of the Arkship Vigilant Core
Yeekikkarrtiiha - The Eager-Handed Scavenger of the Twenty-Strong Hunter Cruiser.

Summarize what you know about the species.
The average vox stands about 5 feet tall, is covered in scales capable of offering them protection from vacuum, has head quills and a long tail. They are also gender-less. They come in browns and greens with markings on their neck/face that shows their genetic lineage, notable history and arkship home. They breathe nitrogen (Oxygen will kill them dead) and have two brains. A meaty one that deals with the automated body stuff, and the cortical stack that houses the individual vox identity. A recovered stack can be placed into a newly grown vox body, giving the species a certain immortality, and makes the retrieval of stacks a very high priority. But death is to be avoided, as resources are scares.
A larger strain of vox, known as the Armalis, are taller and stronger. Built more for combat and difficult work, they are fewer in number but usually have a higher position in the pecking order as they can win fights over dominance more often.

At the center of vox society is the Apex. A network of bio-computers at the center of each ark ship, that give commands to the vox only when the Apex needs things done or changed. The vox treat it like a messenger of a god and obey. The Apex can assign ships commanders, known a Quill, but the structure of said ship is left to the crew themselves. These scavenging and raiding ships are vital to their society as their super advanced but degrading technologies needs constant repairs and resources. Taking from non-vox is their main income source and is an easy moral choice since vox do not view non-vox as being alive (since they do not have cortical stacks). Combat is taken when the numbers and opportunities are right, with deception and cunning being used more often to take what they want.
Vox view their grown guns and ships with a familial affection since they too are grown from vox genetic lines. They even do not see much difference in synthetic and mechanical limbs/organs, as they themselves are more built than bred.
The ark ships are massive and are where a vox would call home. The title of ark ships is long and gives other ark ships information on what that individual ship is offering or buying. But to non-vox it's just a string of confusingly places letters. Vox themselves are named slightly similar, as it is a descriptor of what they look like and their job and home ark ark ship.

The vox language is loud and shrill and quite annoying to non-vox. Learning other languages is not done commonly as it's not seen in a good light. But some do learn as a way to deal with the meat and steal their shit easier.

    Character concept.

Yeek has learned many things in its numerous lives as a scavenger but the most important one is that THINGS, stuff, items, are precious and need to be taken from the meat and given to their rightful owners, the VOX. The hoarding behavior is a bit of a compulsion at this point, but Yeek is also a bit of a coward and will run when the meat outnumber it or have out played it. Better to try again later than be dead. On ship, Yeek defers to older Vox easily and readily, preferring to follow orders than try to climb the hierarchical ladder.
Being home on an ark-ship is a small torture and Yeek always tries to get assigned to away ships as soon as it can. The galaxy is full of loot and it needs collecting. Though, it will shy away from any dealings where Unathi are involved, as its last two bodies were destroyed by them.
Physically, Yeek's current body is of average height for a vox and a bit wiry. This makes it more ideal to fit into smaller places and ferret out hidden gems. Its quills are long and banded and its genetic markings spirals up its neck to under its eyes (the info the markings displays is pretty sparse at the moment, as Yeek has yet to accomplish anything major of note). It has fashioned its outfit with many pockets and webbings.
