Discussion Character age visible on "Examine"?

I've been wondering about this for a long, long time. Our characters are all composed of a small bunch of pixels, and while the character records do readily show someone's age, it's almost impossible to tell if the person you're talking to is a spry youngster or old as dirt, without whipping out your PDA and checking the records to see the age of someone literally in front of you. Amelia Griswold stands out as a prime example; if a woman is 99 years old, it should show. Perhaps we could add a line at the bottom of the Examine readout, similar to height and build, "He/she looks (much) older/younger than you" (or "about the same age as you"), depending on the comparison of your age and theirs? This probably should be obscured if the fella in question is wearing some concealing apparel, like a spacesuit or a gas mask. Such an addition could likely contribute to the quality of RP and hopefully reduce the number of obvious blunders, like addressing somebody 50 years older than you as "bro" or something like that.

Well, you can figure out his age by looking at his ID if you're close enough (if you're 1/2 tile away it'll open a pop-allowing you to read the complete ID : age, name, job, religion, picture and whatnot).

And that's also what the flavor text is for.

I kinda dig. I mean having height displayed like that didn't stop people from putting more detailed description in their flavor text, but some heads up might be neat.

Putting it on examine, as Chinsky said sounds great, but make sure it says it the same way as height etc. a 200 years old dionaea would be older than most people.

This would cause weirdness with aliens.

...How do you know the Diona is older than you? Unathi age differently. Skrell probably determine age based off their last blunt or something.

You could probably add a "You don't know how old they are." If they're an alien and solve this problem.

Someome that is 40, for example, may look much younger, or much older than he really is.
Would we display his real age ? His apparent age ?

Well I was thinking making it only display if you're same species, and only relative.
Aso for last one, can make it a setting a-la height/build 'looks younger/older than his age' and use as modifier for displayed result, but dunno if tha'll be too much effort to add
    ALonelyStranger likes this.

Maybe use anatomy or science skill to determine age for xenos-- althought it may be more of a fluff thing too. Someone who has had a lot of exposure to aliens would be better at judging their age, and wouldn't necessarily need a scientific background.
