About You What is your Byond key? Herma What is your Discord username? herma#0001 <@188796089380503555> How long have you been playing on Baystation 12? A tad over 3 months. What are the names of your better-known characters? Stack (AI) Molecular Synthesizer 45-N (Laboratory Technician) Olivia Aspen (Pathfinder) About The Species What alien species are you applying for? Kharmaani (Gyne) Why do you want to play as the alien species? Firstly, the Torch rarely factors in the possibility of other non-SCG vessels on its expeditions, and it should be reminded that not all is theirs. Secondly, roleplay from the perspective of an arrogant, elitist species - for good reason - seems quite interesting to me personally. What are some example names for the alien species? 4 Violet Tundra 19 Pebble Beach 22 Ruptured Field Summarize what you know about the species. The Kharmaani are one of three groups within the Ascent. Physically, Kharmaani are bilaterally symmetrical (similarly to cephalopods) and stand comparably to a mantis. Below their exosuits (which they wear whenever away from their nest or ship), the ancient species bares a thin layer of brittle, crystalline skin covering a soft, gelatinous, and translucent interior - this is bioluminescent at will and used in communication via Ascent-Glow. They have three legs and three arms (though the central arm is concealed during exosuit operation). Kharmaani alates, males, are typically between 1 and 2 metres tall and weigh between 60 and 80 kilograms, while gynes, females, are between 2 and 5 metres and between 150 and 300 kilograms respectively. The ancient, isolationist species presents an advanced level of social organisation, with Kharmaani gynes using Monarch Serpentid queens as middlemen (after being promoted from entertainers) in communication. Alates are hostile to alates only of other nests, wile gynes are hostile to all other gynes, including those from their own nest or lineage. From human perspective, Kharmaani are an exceptionally hostile, violent, arrogant, and elitist species - gynes will not even look at most other species, classifying them as primitive, though alates will interact them as necessary. Neither gyne nor alate will pause to consider alternate options to slaughter if threatened, and will show no mercy. Kharmaani hubris comes from their technology, that of human civilizations paling in comparison. Popularly known Kharmaani technologies include their faster-than-light slingshot systems, miniaturized nuclear fusion power generators, their complex exosuits, and weaponry. The Ascent opt for superintelligent clusters, as opposed to positronic brains, which are granted the same rights as any other Kharmaani or Monarch Serpentid. The three primary languages of communication between Ascent are Ascent-Glow, which utilizes the Kharmaani inherent bioluminescence (which queens and high ranking workers a typically modified to imitate the feature), Ascent-Voc, an audible bridge language between the Kharmaani, the Monarch Serpentids, and the control minds, and Serpentid, the native language of Monarch Serpentids which is shared with Giant Armored Serpentids. Character concept: 4 Violet Tundra seeks primarily to expand her own territory, laying alate larvae in more places than not. Much of the time, she is found insulting her subordinates, poking at their incompetencies and faults (however little or many there may be), and bossing them around to do her bidding. 4 Violet Tundra cares not for other species, given they do not encroach upon her territory - in other words, as long as they are out of sight and detectable range. Not always resorting to immediate genocide, she can be entertained just enough to let primitives escape her territory.
