Welcome to the Baystation 12 application and information page for alien species and language whistlists.

Before you continue, please make sure you are on the right forum for your server. Many servers use our code without changing the default settings, which sometimes results in players from other servers coming here by accident. This is the Baystation 12 forum, for the Baystation 12 server.

    Contents
This How To has several headings. Please make sure to read everything relevant to you, starting with any rules sections.

    Application Thread Rules

Anyone can post in any application, so long as their posts are civil and topical
Your posts should be about positive or negative experiences you have had with the applicant. Simplistic posts, such as "+1", "No", or "I support this", as well as arguments, flaming, and off-topic posts will be ignored or deleted.

Applications will be responded to within a reasonable period.
You should not bump your application unless it does not receive a reply for 48 hours.

Posting a new application within 4 weeks of a rejection will be ignored, and may be penalized.
You do not have a right to play as an alien species or to speak a specific language. If you are rejected and you wish to reapply, wait patiently and try to improve on your understanding of the alien species or any gameplay attitude problems that may have prevented acceptance.

The final say on the acceptance of an applicant is in the hands of the relevant Species Maintainer.
They are not required to provide a reason for their decision. Argument is unlikely to help.

GAS players have an extra trial period after their application is accepted where they are observed to make sure they are behaving correctly.

In your application, please add an extra field on the end:
    Code:
[b]What is your character concept for your trial period?[/b]
Make a character concept based on what you know about the species and what you've seen from them in normal play. It should include things like name, colour, background, job, age, and how they will generally behave on the Torch. This concept will be critiqued with the rest of the application.

In addition, GAS are not permitted to kill as non-antags, even in self-defence. No exceptions. If you want some advice on ways to disengage from attacks, feel free to ask the current GAS maintainer for help. GAS have some great methods to escape from conflict.

In your application, I am not expecting you to regurgitate the wiki page, far from it, I only really expect a really brief summary about the species in general. What I really want to see from an applicant is that they understand the mindset of the Skrell, the species as a whole and their place in society so that you can demonstrate an understanding of how they're meant to be roleplayed. I'm not expecting an essay on this, only decent effort.

In your application, include the concept for your character's clan- what region they hail from, the faith, and general culture of the clan.It should be at least one paragraph in length. You may use the ones already on the Wiki but creativity can net you a better chance of gaining the whitelist.

Yeosa’Unathi playing must be brought up to Paradox or TOG before play beforehand.

How To Apply For An Alien Species Whitelist

Before you apply for a whitelist, take some time to read the background information for the alien species you want to play as. You can find alien species information links, the current maintainer for each alien species, and whether the alien species is currently accepting applications above, under the "Alien Species Information" heading.

Some alien species have extra requirements that must be met during application. These requirements are also listed under the "Alien Species Information" heading.

You must also take the time to read the Non-Human Job Restrictions page. Non-humans are not permitted to play in all of the available jobs and occupations, and you should take this into account before you choose to apply.

Finally, you should also read the Roleplaying Primer if you're unfamiliar with the idea of creating a character with a story and personality that isn't simply your own.

If you feel you understand the alien species and can play as them correctly, you can apply by creating a new thread in this subforum.
You should title it "your BYOND key - the species name " - for example, "Spookerton - IPC"
In your first post copy and fill the following form, answering only bold lines as questions:

    Code:
    [u]About You[/u]

    [b]What is your Byond key?[/b]
    (your answer below each question)

[b]How long have you been playing on Baystation 12?[/b]

[b]What are the names of your better-known characters?[/b]

    [u]About The Species[/u]

[b]What alien species are you applying for?[/b]

[b]Why do you want to play as the alien species?[/b]

[b]What are some example names for the alien species?[/b]

[b]Summarize what you know about the species.[/b]

How To Apply For A Language Whitelist

Before you apply for a whitelist, take some time to read the background information for the alien species whose language you want to be able to speak. You can find alien species information links, the current maintainer for each alien species, and whether the alien species is currently accepting applications above, under the "Alien Species Information" heading.

You should also read the Roleplaying Primer if you're unfamiliar with the idea of creating a character with a story and personality that isn't simply your own.

If you feel you understand the alien species and have a good reason to have learned their language, you can apply by creating a new thread in this subforum.
You should title it "your BYOND key - the language name " - for example, "Spookerton - Skrellian"
In your first post copy and fill the following form, answering only bold lines as questions:

    Code:
    [u]About You[/u]

    [b]What is your Byond key?[/b]
    (your answer below each question)

[b]How long have you been playing on Baystation 12?[/b]

[b]What are the names of your better-known characters?[/b]

    [u]About The Language[/u]

[b]What language are you applying for?[/b]

[b]Why do you want to be able to speak this language?[/b]

[b]How does the language sound? What difficulties would the character you want to speak it have in trying to speak it?[/b]

[b]Summarize what you know about the language.[/b]
