Unathi Why do you want to play as the alien species? I enjoy alien species as a whole, and Unathi culture is especially interesting with their unique tribal mindset plus want a challenge in the game itself. Both IC and OOC interest in the Unathi. What are some example names for the alien species? Kresh Vrasis Gios Insthys Dreekus Gnarssis Biink Koombajk Summarize what you know about the species. Unathi are a reptilian species hailing from the planet of Moghes, a once verdant world which was turned nearly inhospitable due to an unknown disaster caused by a species known as the "Precursors" All of this has led to them being extremely divided, with near to no central government, outside of a coalition known as the Moghes Hegemony, composed of the Kaahnepos (Clan leaders) of the most important city-states. Yet, even the Hegemony is less of a ruling government, and more of an alliance meant to promote trade and diplomacy with other species, to improve economy among the Unathi on Moghes. Because of the diverse, and generally dangerous environments they live in, Unathi are hardy, and diverse, fractured into various clans, each unique in their way of life, and interpretation of their faith. The various regions of Moghes have also caused the development of unique traditions and cultures; Those living on the poles are generally the most open, and advanced, thanks to their access to off-world technology and trade. On the other hand, those living in the savannas or desert are hardier, due to their environments' generally hostile conditions, and Unathi hailing from the secluded mountains of the Diamond Peak are isolationist, with painted faces, and brands to show their origins. There are five main faiths on Moghes, each with their own views on what Unathi should do in order to grow and thrive as a species, ranging from the progressive followers of the Fruitful Lights, focused on inventing and creating, to the more conflict oriented followers of the Grand Stratagem, each of them has a unique view upon the world, though, no matter their methods, their efforts are focused on bettering the lives of the Unathi, and creating a better world for their species to live in. Along with their clans, however, another of the main pillars of their society is their faith. Unlike human religions focusing on a higher power, Unathi focus on themselves, their species, and the world around them. Clan Concept A relatively small clan hailing from the Diamond Peaks unathi, clan Stormara survives thanks to a collectivist mentality, forming a limited, yet tightly-knit community, where the clan's needs will take precedence over the individual. As believers of the Grand Stratagem, they believe life's conflicts should be overcome together, instead of alone but some of these teachings have been altered by each new generation and the old principals have been overwritten although their new teachings of how you should be a free spirit and be open and transparent and honest with all. Their settlement in one of the many underground bunkers build right into the peaks themselves, underground community that appears to have been advancing in technology faster than other clans in the area due to the discovery of a old crashed starship deep below, but has led to them becoming quite isolated, sadly due to this isolation they tend to lock themselves away from other clans and nomads and keep to themselves regarding other people's business. So they tend to stay together than venture out alone. Biology In terms of biology, Unathi are cold-blooded, and will become tired, or even fall unconscious when exposed to cold temperatures, while heat will make them slow and drowsy. They are extremely resilient, with their heart having two valves spread across their chest, and ribs set like armour plates to protect their internal organs. They also have a long, forked tongue which lets them sense the air like a snake. Males are at average, 7 feet tall, with females being shorter, though this varies greatly depending on their region of origin, with Unathi from the Diamond Peaks being especially tall, and Yeosa, along with those from the salt swamps, will generally be shorter by a full foot. They are carnivorous, and get no nutrition from plants, and they have an extremely fast metabolism, which will cause their organs to literally digest themselves, if they do not regularly ingest nutrients. In return, they have the ability to regenerate even missing limbs, at the cost of a rapid drain in ressources. Oddly enough, sugar, along with some other types of carbohydrates, have hallucinatory properties. In-game, this translates to Unathi having lower tolerances to cold temperatures, a higher blood supply, resistance to brute damage and passive regeneration, allowing them to even regenerate missing limbs. However, they are slower, they get hungry considerably faster, and will begin taking damage if starving. Sugar will also cause them to become drugged up. Character Concept Nok'Var Skromssra is a member of the aforementioned Skromssra clan. Due to the secluded nature of their fall into isolation, He spent most of his childhood locked inside, only overhearing stories of the "Outside world". His life, up until he reached his late teenage, was limited to "The Deep Peak", as everyone called it. The Bunker itself wasn't that large, though their numbers were growing by each moon, with the thick snow and the low temperatures of the peak making agriculture almost impossible. He follows the teachings of the Grand Stratagem and Fruitful Lights when he was a child during most of his life, the teachings of Individuality, Species and a little bit of everything, this also lead him to learning about the medicine in the clan due to his high interest in supporting and helping other people not only the people in his clan but in the world too. To him, everyone deserves to be equal no matter what they are, so he tries to treat everyone with respect, an old proverb that floats around, 'Treat someone how you wish to be treated yourself' always comes to his mind. His clan has been dealing with trade agreements with the Insthyr Clan near in the region of the Skromssra Clan but much, much larger in numbers and recourses. Clan Insthyr has been one of the main clans that has been trading food and weapons to the Skromssra Clan but sadly recent relations have deteriorated due to a common disagreement due to territory as Insthyr Clan wants to expand theirs. The Skromssra Clan blames their still traders and have been asking for Skromssra Clan to pay them back but at the moment are unable although both clans support the idea of Fruitful Lights Faith but tensions seem to be building between both Clans over territory and their Clan depts. Although sadly he is starting to grow sick of this isolation when he was in his mid adulthood around 50 years of age. Due to his old teachings and due to each generation of the clan, the old teachings have become quite jaded over the past decades. He wants to open himself up as well as see the sun or moon for the first time in his life, this dose agitate him due to his aggressive nature being only a young adult. Due to the lack of food and the amount of years he has been stuck inside "The Deep Peak" Nok'Var Skromssra at the age or about 70 years of age being quite late into his adulthood he was chosen to assist with the clans doctors, due to the shortage of food and the clan on the verge of starveling to death, the chiefs have came to an agreement to abandon their home and to split up the clan, disobeying the laws that were yet millennia ago, but with this plan of action Nok'Var Skromssra took this opportunity to leave, overwhelmed by what he saw outside, the stars in the big empty void over his head, he took an oath to himself to find a new life beyond the peak and into the dark void that looms over him. However, finally getting to explore the outside only contributed to his growing wanderlust, and he soon longed for more than Diamond Peaks, he trawled for days tirelessly to find a settlement or something else, starveling and freezing cold he stumbles upon a small camp of the Skromssra clan, these Unathi had left "The Deep Peak" years ago due to the food shortage, they found a spot where agriculture was stable, they made sure Nok'Var Skromssra had gotten food and shelter for a few days. He worked with them on the farm until overhearing talking of the Expeditionary Corps' exchange program in the main city of Mumbak of the Skalwa Clan. Nok'Var Skromssra saw it as the perfect opportunity and left their camp the following day, heading to a Insthyr Clan camp due to overheating that they make trips to the greate city of Moghes for tradeing. Hitching a ride with them after explaining to them his motives and how he follows their faith. Dedicating all his efforts, he trawled for days tirelessly to the city of Mumbak who provides this, he does all he can to prove himself with the Skalwa Clan, pushing himself to follow their way of life, soon amassing enough of a "Tribute" to convince the Kaahnepos of his new role as a benefactor due to the exchange program into Clan Skalwa but still keeps his original clan name although this doesn't make him a member of the Skalwa Clan. This is to help him to enrol him into the exchange program within the Skalwa Clan structure and within the city of Mumbak, eventually after a long year of proving himself once again he gains the favour from the Kaahnepos on this second exchange and found his way onto the exploration vessel Torch. Now, even though he may be forced to collaborate with species who may not agree with his beliefs or the other Unathi, and working with technology he may not quite understand, he is awaiting postings as he has applied to join the medical team on the ship due to his basic experience with his clan, protecting the Torch to the best of his abilities, because, after all the ship is his new home and family. He sees the crew as his new clan as when he joined now Nok'Var Skromssra, never seemed more happier to be part of a new family and is enjoying the open unknown world that is around him even with the restrictions he has while on the Torch due to his race. He is unable to be part of the main command strucutre, Pathfinder, SEA, Corporate Liasion, or SolGov Rep but this dosn't discorage him from his job or the mission.
