About You What is your Byond key? nol4 What is your Discord username? herbs#1075 How long have you been playing on Baystation 12? About a year What are the names of your better-known characters? Basil Berg, Lavender Langley, Frey Lengvin, Veth Bannett About The Species What alien species are you applying for? Yeosa'Unathi Why do you want to play as the alien species? I've been meaning to do my alien apps for a long time. Unathi seem like a fun challenge as a roleplayer, and something new to enjoy outside of the usual space human dynamics. What are some example names for the alien species? Elra Uhlezeiz Koslzsle Selle Resulo Orsuli Esszoz Slsszaa Ekise Ahohha Azse Eza Summarize what you know about the species. Unathi are built like organic tanks. They boast plate-like scales and potent regenerative capacities, with most unathi able to regenerate limbs and all able to patch their flesh back together rapidly from gastro-nutrition. There’s also the teeth, and claws, and the massive size. Of course, most tanks don’t go to hyperthermic sleep if they spend an hour in a mild winter. Most tanks don’t catastrophically self-canabilize if they aren’t fueled. You can’t have everything. Fuel your Unathi with meat. Plants are garnish at best, carbs tend to be poison, and sugar is drugs. Unathi follow the traditions of their faith and clan. Clans are bonded together, and typically are an extended family of shared ancestry. The head-of-clans are the Kaahnepo and the Matriarch, and clan history and ancestors determine the specific traditions that determine what is and is not honorable behavior- Unathi near-universally share an ethic of honorability, and look down upon dishonorable actions. This is one of few universalities- individual clans hold total authority over their domain, and practices between clans differ dramatically. Most Unathi clans also respect banes -ritualistic duel combat- as a method of settling inter-clan disputes. On rare occasions in the recent past, clans will grow together to become a Krukzuz- but typically there is no mediator between clans or upper authority beyond a given clan Kaahnepo and Matriarch. This makes any agreements with humans fundamentally limited- there is no voice that speaks for more than a small slice of the Unathi population. Faith is a cornerstone of Unathi society, and is generally centered around two states of existence, roughly explained for humans as Life and Afterlife. The Afterlife is the home of the spirits of the previously-alive, and Unathi will appeal to the departed spirits of their own ancestors for patronage- with the belief that they will join them upon death. Even the most secular of Unathi will generally respect those who came before them. Worship is divided broadly into four cults: Hand of the Vine, The Great Stratagem, Fruitful Lights, and Markesheli. There is also the Yeosa traditional religion of Aga Eaeke, which includes ancestor worship in parallel with ritual worship of the monstrous creatures in the World Sea. Unlucky Unathi who are exiled or who choose to leave their clans to preserve the honor of their family unit or save themselves the stigma of dishonor like as Guwandi- briefly. Living alone in the wilds is as harsh as one would intuit, made no easier by the expected ritual of battling fellow Guwandi to death after a story telling session. Some lucky romanticized few battle their way back to peace and either achieve pardon or receive patronage in another clan. Unathi writing is largely based on circular shapes that can be drawn with claws in the dirt. There are two primary Unathi languages -Sinta and Yeosa- with Yeosa boasting a wider range of sounds to accommodate aquatic communication. Unathi tend to vocalize emotion, with barks, rattling, and chuffing common- often paired with thumps of the tail, excessive air sampling, or snake-like swaying when irritated, threatened, or anxious. Affection can be indicated by twinning tails or necks, or touching heads. Hugging is a thing for children, and baring your neck indicates either extreme trust, shame, or stupidity. For fear of doing too much of a wiki regurg, I’m happy to answer any questions about any other details. Additional: two in one character/clan proposal. Eske Esszealo Asruli is from the once-isolationalist Abyssal clan Eske settled on a volcanic archipelago. Their clan elders interpreted recent tectonic events and rising pollution in the surrounding sea as a sign for promising clan youths to venture beyond clan territory. Born a Warden, Asruli was naturally one such uprooted youth. Curious and desperate to learn but facing significant culture shock, Asruli finds day to day life aboard the Torch frustrating and challenging- what is to them regular emotive gestures are threats to their human crew members. They find some solace in quiet meditation at the windows- the passing carp and whales making them wonder if, perhaps, the monsters of the world sea have a greater physical domain than their clan once appreciated.
